While it would be easy to just state that many of my favorite drummers play Zildjian, it would be true but that isn’t quite it. My first cymbals were Zildjians, a 21″ Rock ride, 16″ Thin Crash and a pair of 14″ New Beat Hi hats. The 1970s Avedis Zildjians were the cymbals heard on most recordings at the time and I like the way that they play; they aren’t buttery or mushy. I have some real prize Zildjians and have nothing against other brands; they are nice too!
I just prefer Zildjians – it’s the sound that I hear in my head!
